With so many younger girls joining guides the older girls felt they wanted to restart their seniors group. So meeting on alternate weeks to the guides and core group of girls started working towards their bronze and silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards and Look Wider octants. Several of them spent a very cold few days in April in the Teifi Pools area of Mid Wales doing their Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award exploration. Some of the members in the group were unable to do an expedition at that time some this was decided to be the best plan of action. They are now planning their qualifying expedition before the end of October.
Some of the girls have joined in with the guide outings to London and the Big Gig and Nant yr Arian. In July 4 of them joined with the Guides in helping at the Royal Welsh Show at Builth Wells. Three of them completed their GCSE exams at school and have now moved on to college.
At the end of August 5 of them attended Teens and Twenties weekend at Broneirion with Caroline and Llinos. A great time was had by all. Again as with the guides, this was the first visit to the house by many of them but they all want to go again. We camped, for the first time, in Cae Gwenllian and really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the weekend for the Senior Section members and leaders. They all want to go again next year. They all attended the Oscars Party on the Saturday night but the girls were in bed and asleep long before their leaders……. (See the full report & more photos here)
Two of the girls have now decided to do their Adult Leadership Qualification which is wonderful news and every encouragement will be given them to complete it successfully.
We start the new term with lots of new ideas and plans for the forthcoming term.
