We had two things to celebrate when we started back in September, the first was that we had made it half way through our first year and the second was the Rainbows 18th birthday. We celebrated the Rainbows 18th Birthday party by making party hats and cake. We joined Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire Rainbows for a giant party in the United Counties Showground Carmarthen, a brilliant day was had by all.
After a busy term, we came to our 1st Christmas together, we decided to join with the Brownies and hold a Christmas craft fair where we successfully raised over £200, a big thank you to everyone who helpedl.
We made christingle’s for the Preseli District christingle service, which we attended with all they Other units in the district, all those Christingle’s looked very pretty when lit. We decide to hold a unit Christmas party, the Rainbows all put on their posh party clothes and played all sorts games before tucking into the party food. They were all Given their Christmas presents, which they promised not to open until Christmas!
When we got back in January we were nearly through our first
year, We said goodbye to Rhian
had our first pot of gold party, we do like our parties. February saw us learning
about Thinking day, all the Rainbows took part in Right here, Right now and
all gained their badges. Some of the girls also attended the North division
Thinking day service in St David’s cathedral. During the service Shauna
and Ffion were given their promise badges. We then enjoyed refreshments at ysgol
Dewi Sant, before returning home.
During the Easter term we worked on two badges, a roundabout
badge and American challenge badge, we also welcomed back Sara, and Bethan and
Lily joined us. We celebrated Easter, with a district Easter Fun day, where
all the Rainbows, were made chocolate nests, badges, cards and were turned into
Rabbits. County Commissner Ruth Best had the difficult task of choosing the
best Easter bonnet, before everyone tucked into a packed tea, enjoyed an Easter
egg hunt and a sing song before going home.
For our last meeting before half term in May we had bring an adult in evening,
where they all helped us make apple salad, one of the activities the Rainbows
choose for their Roundabout badge, the adults joined in with the songs, games
and saw us get presented with a Roundabout badge and the American challenge
badge. During the summer term the Rainbows all worked towards their Adventure
out badge, making the most of the sunny weather. Our last meeting was a fun
evening, were they were all presented with their adventure out badge.
But before we all said our goodbyes for the summer, we joined together for the district teddy bears picnic in the abbey, we sang and enjoyed a picnic, complete with teddy bear shaped crisps. After the picnic Lily and Bethan made their promise and Anwen had a pot of gold goodbye we wish her luck in Cardigan Brownies. Rainbows and teddies went home, many via the duck pond to feed the ducks anything that was left in their picnic boxes.
