Rainbows were first introduced in Northern Ireland for children aged 4 to 7yrs and were known as Bunnies.
It wasn't until 1985 that the Guide Association officially recognised the groups.
In 1987 the Guide association finally approved the existence of the newly-named Rainbow Section, for girls aged between 5 & 7years old. The uniform was to be a tabard and true to their name Rainbows were allowed to wear 'rainbow' colours.
Since then, Rainbows has grown from strength to strengt and new units are still opening across the UK. On the 7th of May 2008 Rainbows across the UK will all be wearing their Rainbow uniform to school, don't forget to wear yours! A letter requesting permission from your headteacher is available from your Rainbow Leader.
