September 2005 saw us start up and get to know each other through activities such as colouring and games. In October we moved on to further activities such as gluing and cutting, and starting to understand what Rainbows was about and what the rainbow promise was. November had us making a mess with paints, making firework pictures that had all kneeling on the floor, whether it be making the mess or tidying it up. December had us all making and doing Christmas based activities including making magnets that were sold to raise funds for the group at the St. Thomas’ Christmas Fair.

January was our month for planning; we planned the promise party and made invitations etc. that took place in February. All the girls and one guider took their promise in front of the mums and dads, Division and District commissioner. The theme was a pyjama party and all who attended certainly went home and slept well that night. February also saw our first attendance at theThinking day service at St. David’s Cathedral which went ahead without any major problems for us.
March was a fruity month as we did our Mr Men Challenge for Children with Leukaemia, we chose to eat 13 different fruits and play 13 different games and all participated in all things. We raised a total of £54.00 half of which went to the charity and half of which went into funds. We all learnt a thing or two when we started our first roundabout badge in this month carrying through until the end of the year. We made masks with feathers, Noisy shakers with coke bottles, pasta, rice, glue and paper, sorry cards and a rainbow tree full of information about ourselves. April saw Easter come and go but not unnoticed as we had a fun day with several other Rainbow groups from the surrounding area. Where we made chocolate cakes, cards, pom pom bunny tails and ears, did the bunny hokey cokey and lots of other activities and games. We had an Easter bonnet competition which was judged by our County Commissioner and our photo was seen by all in the local paper. July saw a royal visit to the village, Prince Charles and The Duchess of Cornwall. We met in the Abbey grounds and played a few games, sung songs and greeted the couple as they passed through. Our final meeting of the year was a teddy bears picnic in the abbey grounds, with other rainbow units from the district. All the girls were presented with their first Rainbows Roundabout badge.
